THE WORD hemisphere means “half a sphere.” In geography, the term refers to half the Earth, and the enclosing boundary line of a hemisphere is a great circle. For instance, if the equator is the great circle enclosing a hemisphere, the viewer will be seeing either the Northern Hemisphere or the Southern Hemisphere.
Longitude:-
The angular distance of a place east or west of the Greenwich meridian, or west of the standard meridian of a celestial object, usually expressed in degrees and minutes.
Latitude:-
The angular distance of a place north or south of the earth's equator, or of the equator of a celestial object, usually expressed in degrees and minutes.
Standard meridian :-
Standard time is the synchronization of clocks within a geographical area to a single standard time, rather than using solar time or a locally chosen meridian (longitude) to establish a local mean time standard.
A country may have many longitudes running across it and there is a time gap of 4 minutes between each longitude.
Main landforms:-
A landform is a feature on the Earth's surface that is part of the terrain. Mountains, hills, plateaus, and plains are the four major types of landforms. Minor landforms include buttes, canyons, valleys, and basins. Tectonic plate movement under the Earth can create landforms by pushing up mountains and hills.
Northern Hemisphere:-
The Northern Hemisphere is the half of Earth that is north of the Equator. For other planets in the Solar System, north is defined as being in the same celestial hemisphere relative to the invariable plane of the solar system as Earth's North Pole.
Southern Hemisphere:-
The Southern Hemisphere is the half of Earth that is south of the Equator. It contains all or parts of five continents, four oceans and most of the Pacific Islands in Oceania. Its surface is 80.9% water, compared with 60.7% water in the case of the Northern Hemisphere, and it contains 32.7% of Earth's land.
