1) Mitochondria is a cell organelle.

2) Mitochondria is known as 'Powerhouse of the cell'.

3) Mitochondria releases energy required for various biological activities in the form off ATP (Adenosine triphosphate).

4) Mitochondria has two membranes. The outer membrane is porous and the inner membrane is deeply folded which provides surface area for ATP generating chemical reactions.

5) Mitochondria contain their own genetic material and Ribosomes andnd are able to make some of their own protein.
