Monocot seed :
The seed with a single cotyledon is known as monocot seed
here embryo generally lies on one side .
Endospermic condition are more common .
Special aleurone layer is present .
Plumule occur on the side of the single cotyledon .
An epithelial layer is present for absorption of nourishment from the stored food

Dicot seed :
The seed having two cotyledon is known as Dicot seed .
The embryo lies centrally
Both endospermic and non- endospermic seed are common.
An aluerone layer is absent .
Plumule is generally protected and lies in between the two cotyledons.
An epithelial layer is absent.
