the series of processes by which nitrogen and its compound are interconverted in the enviorment and in living organism including nitrogen fixation and decomposition

or in other words

a continious series of natural proccesess by which nitrogen passes succecively from air to soil to organismand back to air  or soil involving principally , nitrogen fixation and nitrification,decay AND dentrification
