The electron transfer of an electron from a reducing agent like sodium to an oxidising agent like oxygen result in an electron be transferred (taken away from sodium) and an electron be (added)transferred to oxygen
The result is sodium ends with a loss of electron density and positive charge. Oxygen ends up with the gain of electron density and negative charge
