yes. during the colonial rule, deforestation became on a large scale. the colonial govt. did not care for the forests or the people who lived in it. they cut the forests recklessly for railways, ships,industries etc. if they did not have control over asia and africa the allies would not have been so sucessful.because of this forests in india, java etc. are almost extinct
