Deforestation is the process by which forests are cleared bye cutting trees burning a part of the forest by slash and Burn agriculture to build houses or to start industries.

Trees hold the soil and keeps them in tact by their roots which prevents soil erosion during heavy rain. Landslides in the hilly regions are caused due to presence of very few trees to hold the soil and lead to resultant lanslides.
