Answer:

Deforestation and its causes :-

=》The cutting down of trees on a large scale is called deforestation. It adversely effects our environment.

Some of the main reasons of deforestation are listed below:-

  • Our population is increasing day to day. To fulfil the demand of foods, forests are cleared and the land is used for agricultural purposes. Forests are also cleared to build houses, industries, roads etc...
  • Tree are also cut for making wood and paper.
  • The plant cover has also been reduced due to overgrazing of animals.

Consequences of deforestation :-

  • Wildlife will not be able to survive in the absence of forests, as forests are home and animals.
  • There will be a scarcity of forests products.
  • Since forests plays a major role in keeping the environment cool and regulating the rainfall, their absence will lead to reduced rainfall and increased temperatures.
  • Soil erosion will increase. This will adversely affect soil fertility and productivity.
