Cutting down of trees for industrial and other uses is known as deforestation.

Methods to prevent deforestation are :-

planned Harvesting i. e. cutting only some trees in an area
Afforestation which means renewing a forest by planting small trees of the same species as found in the forest
Protection from forest fires
Protection from insects and pests
Protection from overgrazing

Deforestation is the decrease in forests because of the destruction of trees. Deforestation has majorly occurred in the Amazon forest in California which has affected the climate, ecosystem and has posed a huge threat to koalas.
