Dehydration of alcohols to form alkene is carried out by conc. H2SO4 not HNO3 or HCl is due to dehydrating power of conc. ... Concentrated sulphuric acid act as dehydrating agent. As the water is formed in the reaction it will remove the water molecules from the reaction.
