(b)CO2 concentration increases in alveolar air. This is because CO2 level is a major regulator of respiration.It is much more important than oxygen to maintain normal respiration.Even,very small changes in carbon dioxide levels. (5 mm Hg increase in PCO2, hypercapnia in the blood causes large increases in the rate and depth of respiration (100% increase in ventilation.)
