The Early Nationalists demanded the Abolition of the Preventive Detention Act and restoration of individual liberties and right to assemble and to form associations. They also wanted the Removal of the restrictions imposed by the British Government on the freedom of speech, and the freedom of the press.

Demands of Early Nationalists

The early Nationalist wanted a large share in the Government of their country they believe that eventually India should move towards the democratic self government ,however they did not ask for a immediate achievement of their goal as they feared that the government would suppress their activities .

  1. Expansion of Legislative Council and Legislative assembly .
  2. Adequate representation of Indian Council of their governments .
  3. By the beginning of the 20th century they made the demand for Swaraj .
  4. They also demand for self government in the councils of the Country .
  5. The most important demand was abolising of Indian Council .
  6. Development of Banking irrigation Medical and health facilities for the people of India.
  7. total abolishing of tax on salt and the duty on Sugar.
  8. Industrial growth through trade protection.
