Caste affects politics in India in the following ways:
1)CHOICE OF CANDIDATES DURING ELECTION:During election parties choose their candidates, keeping in mind the caste composition of the electorate. They nominate candidates from different castes so as to gey maximum vote to win elections.
2)CASTE REPRESENTATION IN GOVERNMENT:When the governments are formed, and ministers are appointed, political
parties usually take care that representatives of different castes find a place in it.
3)DURING ELECTION CAMPAIGN:Political parties and candidates in election make emotional appeals to caste people in order to gain support.
4)UNIVERSAL ADULT FRANCHISE:The principle of 'one person one vote' forces political leaders mobilise and public support in name of caste.
