Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan , is a scheme initiated by the government of India , which promises to provide free and fair education for the elementary level . This scheme though not has a definite time of application in all the states of India , but was almost initiated in every state at the same time . This programme was initiated in order to ensure the newest fundamental right , i.e , " FREE AND COMPULSORY EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN OF AGES BETWEEN , 6 - 14 . "
Though implemented for the well being of the Nation , it too has some merits and demerits .
MERITS :
⭐ It increses the literacy rate of our country.
⭐ Since , the Education is free , and there is no need to pay any extra cost for admission of the students , therefore more and more students join the schools.
DEMERITS :
⭐ Though the students get admitted in schools , but if not taken care , they do not attend their schools for most of the times.
⭐ The students are to be passed till 8th standard , even if he or she scores a very poor mark in the exams . So , without learning anything only , the students use to pass out , hence leading to the depletion of human capital , and rather than becoming an asset , become a liability .
⭐ According to RTE [ Right to Education ] act , 2009 , no student can be given any punishment , no matter physical or mental . Since , no punishment can be given even if something wrong has been done by the students , then they would not learn anything good , else , they would get engaged in bad activities , as there wouldn't be any one who can punish them to show what is good and what is bad.
