beside merits of transgenic plants there are several demerits too...
1) there is risk of causing allergies as side effects to humans and animals..
2) there is a risk of gene pollution..as natural out crossing..
3) they may change fundamental nature of vegetables..
4) they may change evolutionary pattern .. and has adverse effect on environment...
