democracy in ancient times was indirect because the persons didn't rule. The country was ruled by king or dictators.

Answer:

Democracy in ancient times was direct. A direct democracy means that the citizens have direct participation in everyday decision making and administrating the government. For example: Greece was a direct democracy. But when hundreds of people become a part of a democracy implementation of direct democracy becomes difficult. In such a democracy, people elect their representatives who take decisions and implement policies on their behalf. Even though people participate in decision making yet their participation is limited. This is known as indirect democracy.
