Democracy is simply the the government of the people , by the people & for the people.
In a country like India having a great population, the need of democracy has a great significance.
We should be proud to be one of the largest democracies of the world!!

THE BELOW PARAGRAPH ,I HAVE EXPLAINED IN MY OWN LANGUAGE .
We got freedom from Britishers in 1847 and we adopted a system called Democracy.But what do democracy actually means ?It doesn't means just adopting a constitution But it means that every citizen of the country has the right to elect a representative as their leader or head .Hence, we can also define Democracy as ' A GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE , BY THE PEOPLE , FOR THE PEOPLE.' And in India people are given the right to choose their representatives on their own. That's why India is a Democratic country.
