Democracy is based on many social and political values. The above statement can be explained with the following arguments.
1. In democracy, it gives a fair opportunity for all to choose their own govt/representative  (.i.e) Right to Suffrage 
2. It is mostly gives a transparency system of rule. It can be achieved by the Rights that are given to citizens. Right to Information is one such right that allows transparency. 
3. Enhances the dignity of individuals by providing them Fundamental Rights.
4. It allow rooms for correcting ourselves when we are found offensive by the Judiciary (courts).
5. It gives Rights for equal representation, Using of Medias like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram can be good ex of representing ourselves.
