Democracy is the best way to fight for recognition and also to accommodate diversity explain with reason
Answers
Answer:
Democracy is the best way to fight for recognition and also to accommodate diversity because people who are marginalised or poor have to fight against injustice in a democratic way. Because the government is elected by the people, they become sensitive and responsive to the demands of the people. Democratic leaders often try to accommodate the demands of the protesting groups unlike dictatorial rulers who mostly suppress their demands by using military force. This leads to deep social divisions in the country.
One example of such reconciliation is Belgium. Deeply divided on linguistic lines, the government of Belgium reached a consensus according to which, though the Dutch were in majority in Belgium, the French and Dutch speaking population were given equal representation in the Central Government. The capital city of Brussels had a separate government. Though the French speaking population was in majority in the city, they accepted equal representation in Brussels. This was because the Dutch speaking people had accepted equal representation in the Central Government in spite of being in majority.
