when a cell is kept in water then the water from the cell sourrounding or from higher concentration goes inside the cell or to lower concentration this is endosmosis and when a cell containing water is kept in a concentrated solution like salt water goes out from inside the cell or from higher concentration to lower concentration from inside to outside this is exosmosis
