to describe osmosis with the help of a potato we first take a potato and make a cup out of it inside which we will but sugar solution. we will mark the level of soln with the help of a pin. next we will put the potato inside a beaker full of water . we will leave the set up for a day. next day we will see that the water level in potato is risen up . this is due to osmosis.

so what happens is , water from the beaker is going to the potato as there is a difference in the solution concertration inside and outside the potato. the conc of water is Less inside the potato so water moves from the beaker to the potato through the potato (a semi permeable membrane).

so this is the demonstration of osmosis through potato
