Denesh is creating a triangular flower bed using three pieces of wood. The two shorter pieces of wood have lengths of 7 feet and 24 feet. How long, in feet, should the third piece of wood be for Denesh to create a right triangle?

The 2 shorter sides of the triangle are:
7 ft and 24 ft
In order to have a right triangle, we have the Pythagoras theorem, which states that
Square of Hypotenuse = Sum of squares of other 2 sides
So, as its given the 2 sides are shorter sides of triangle, they both cant be hypotenuse, so
Hypotenuse² = 7² + 24²
Hypotenuse² = 49 + 576

Hypotenuse² = 625
Hypotenuse = 25 [ length cant be -25 ]

Therefore, to create the right triangle, the third side would be 25 ft
