Let the numerator be x

then denominator is x+7

Then the no is = x/x+7

ATQ, x-3/x+7+2=2/5

Or, x-3/x+9=2/5

After this step we have to do cross multiplication then

Or, 5(x-3)/x+9=2

Or, 5x-15/x+9=2

Or, 5x-15=2(x+9)

Or, 5x-15=2x+18

Or, 5x-2x=18+15

Or, 3x=33

Or, x=33/3

Or, x=11

Therefore the value of numerator x is 11

So the value of denominator x+7=11+7=18

If you want to check the answer the fractional/rational no = x-3/x+7+2 = 11-3/11+7+2 = 8/20 if you cancel out the numbers then = 2/5 is the result

The original no = x/x+7 = 11/11+7 = 11/18

I used or in solving the equation if you want to use imply sign in the equation you can no problem with that you can write either or/imply sign your choice any one.
