let fraction is = x / y

Denominator of fraction is 1 less than the three time of numerator :-

y - 1 = 3x --------eq(1)

Now 13 is added to the numerator and 8 is added to the denominator then the fraction becomes 1 :-

=> (x + 13) / (y + 8)= 1

=> x+13 = y+8

=> y - x = 5 ----------eq(2)

On solving eq (1) and eq (2) and we get the values 2 and 7 of x and y respectively.

Finally fraction is 2/7.
