Answer:

3(x-4)/x-4

Step-by-step explanation:

numerator = x

denominator = x -4

x/(x-4)

6 + x = 3(x-4)

6 + x = 3x - 12

2x = 18

x = 9

number = x and x -4 = 9 and 5

         ALTERNATE ANSWER,

let the numerator be x

so, the denominator be x - 4

∴ fraction = x / x - 4

according to question,

given :

numerator + 6 = 3 × denominator

     x + 6 = 3(x - 4)

   ⇒ x + 6 = 3x - 12

  ⇒ 6 + 12 = 3x - x

   ⇒ 18 = 2x

   ⇒ 18 / 2 = x

   ⇒ 9 = x

required numbers -

numerator = x = 9

denominator = x - 4 = 9 - 4 = 5

hence, the required fraction is 9 / 5

Answer:

let x be the numerator then x-4 will be the denominator

therefore the fraction is x/x-4

add 6 to the numerator

x + 6 = 3(x-4)

x+6 = 3x - 12

x - 3x = -12 - 6

-2x = -18

x = 9

therefore the fraction is x/x-4

=> 9/(9-4)

=> 9/5
