let the numerator be x
so the denominator be x+3
so the rational number will be x/x+3
=x+7/x+3-2
=x+7/x+1
if the answer is 2
x+7/x+1 =2
x+7=2x+2
7-2=2x-x
5=x
x=5
x+3=8
so the rational number will be 5/8

Heya !!!

Let Numerator of rational number be X.

Then denominator of rational number (X +3)

Ration Number = Numerator/Denominator = X/X+3

Numerator is increased by 7 then new numerator is ( X +7) and denominator is decreased by 2 then new denominator is ( X +3-2) = ( X +1)

Now,

New rational Number = ( X +7) / ( X +1)

According to question,

( X +7) / ( X +1) = 2

( X +7) = 2(X +1)

X + 7 = 2X + 2

2X - X = 7 -2

X = 5

Numerator = X = 5

And,

Denominator = ( X +3) = 8

Therefore,

Rational Number = 5/8
