Water of different seas have different densities, Therefore when a ship sails from the sea water of higher density to the sea of water of lower density or from sea water to river water[fresh water], it sinks further.
Reason:
1. Due to presence of minerals and salts the density of sea water is 1.026g/cm3 is more than the density of fresh water[1.0g/cm3]
2. According to Law of Flotation, to balance the weight of ship, a greater volume of water is required to be displaced in the sea of water of lower density[river water]; Hence it sinks more.
