Answer : The density of methane will be, 1.299 g/L

Solution :

using ideal gas equation,

PV=nRT\\\\P=\frac{w}{V}\times \frac{RT}{M}\\\\P=D\times \frac{RT}{M}\\\\D=\frac{PM}{RT}

where,

n = number of moles of gas

w = mass of gas

P = pressure of the gas = 2 atm

T = temperature of the gas = 27^oC=273+27=300K

M = molar mass of metahne gas = 16 g/mole

R = gas constant = 0.0821 Latm/moleK

D = density of gas

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get the density of methane gas.

D=\frac{PM}{RT}=\frac{2atm\times 16g/mole}{0.0821Latm/moleK\times 300K}=1.299g/L

Therefore, the density of methane will be, 1.299 g/L
