depletion and degradation of natural resources are two different words with entirely different meaning.
depletion refers to the excess usage of the resources provided by the nature for our own benefit whereas degradation refers to the harmful effects which are caused by or during the depletion of the resource.
taking the example of mining here excess mining of metals leads to the depletion of the resource but the Chemicals and harmful gases released in water bodies and air respectively is it's degradation.
both the things are very harmful for our nature because it creates havoc in our environment which indirectly or directly harms us.
