a) 'Class' refers to the classroom which is dark and dingy, as it is in a slum school, where nobody cares for the lighting. 'Dim' is also used to denote the future of these children in the class.

b) A sweet young boy is sitting at the back of the dim class.

c) He dreams of squirrels playing games in the hollow of the tree. His dreams are of the places other than his repulsive classroom. He is lost in his imagination creating his own fantasy world where he plays like a squirrel in its tree room.
