According to Newton's Second law:

Force applied = change in momentum

=> F = dp/dt ...............(a)

And, we know that:

momentum = mass×velocity

=> p = mv

Differentiate the above equation:

=> dp = m.dv

Put [dp = m.dv] in (a)

That is, F = dp/dt

= (m.dv)/dt

= m.(dv/dt)

but dv/dt = acceleration = a.

Hence, F = m×a
