In series resistors current remains constant (eq:1) voltage gets distributed.ie, V=V¹+V²+V³(eq:2)
According to Ohm's law,V=IR(eq:3)
V¹=IR¹,V²=IR²,V³=IR³
Adding
V¹+V²+V³=IR¹+IR²+IR³
From (2) V=I(R¹+R²+R³)
From (3) IR= I(R¹+R²+R³)
R=R¹+R²+R³
