According to ohm's law:-

V=IR.

Let some resistance be connected in series from point A,B,C,D

So,

The potential difference between A and B is:-

Va-Vb= IR1...........(I).

Vb-Vc= IR2...........(II).

Vc-Vd= IR3...........(III).

From (I). (II). (III). we get.,

Va-Vd= I(R1+R2+R3).

V=I(R1+R2+R3).

IR= I(R1+R2+R3).

R= R1+R2+R3.
