if one lightly strains deforms an objects it will usually return to its original underformed shape when the load is removed this is referred to us elastic behavior of deformation to original dimensions of the angle and is equal to the length of deformation at its maximum divided by the perpendicular length in the plane of the force application which sometimes makes it easier to calculate
