The universal law of gravitation is stated as ,

F = Gm₁m₂ / r²

It is derived from the formula ,

F = ma

In terms of gravitation , a = g

and g is given as ,

g = Gm₁ / r²

by substituting the value of g in F = ma ,

F = m₂ × Gm₁ /r²

  = Gm₁m₂ / r²
