Derive an expression for apparent weight of a person in a lift when the lift is moving downward with an acceleration ‘a’.

Apparent weight of a person in lift will be m(g+a) while moving upwards whereas it will be m(g−a) while moving downwards.

In these type of questions if a is opp. to g then it will -ve and when a is along g then it will be +ve
