The energy possessed by a moving body is called kinetic energy.

From v2-u2=2as

V2-0 =2as

a=v2/2s -------->(1)

As F =ma

Using equation (1)

F =m[v^2/2s]

Work done on the body_

W=Force ×distance

W=m×v^2/2s×s

W=1/2 mv^2

This work done on the body is a kinetic energy:  

K.E of a body =W=1/2mv^2
