Since there are no magnetic poles found in nature there is no fully accepted convention for magnetic charge and several definitions exist. In a magnet pole with a uniform magnetic field HH the pole surface emits field lines HH (not to be confused with BB field) both outside the magnet and inside the magnet thus for the two-sided flux from pole area AA the total HH-flux is 2HA2HA and in the ampere-meter convention the gauss theorem equivalent to electrical flux-charge becomes:
2HA=Qm2HA=Qm
This is the virtual pole magnetic charge and it is has a calculated validity similar to the field H itself. Since the units of HH are AmAm then the units of magnetic charge (=pole strength) in this convention are A⋅mA⋅m.
