as we know that standing waves are produced when 2 waves travelling in opposite directions are superimposed.

Y1=Asin(wt-kx)

Y2=Asin(wt+kx)

Yresultant=Y1+Y2

=A(sin(wt-kx)+sin(wt+kx))

=A2sinwtcoskx

=2Asinwt*coskx

hope this helps
