Hey Mate..
Let P be an axial point at distance r from the centre of the dipole. Electric potential at point P is given as
⇒ V = V1 + V2
V1 and V2 are the potential at Point P due to charges + q and - q respectively
∴ V = 1 / 4√r ₙ ( q / r - a ) + ( - q / r + a )
⇒ q / 4√r ₙ 2a / r∧ - a∧
⇒ 1 / 4√r ₙ ( p / r∧ - a∧ )
