Answer:

TO DERIVE :

 \huge{\red{\sf s_{n} = u + \dfrac{1}{2} a(2n-1)}}

SOLUTION :

• The distance travelled is the area of the shaded portion.

\hookrightarrow area of CDFG + area of BCDE

→ Area of CDFG + area of ADE - Area of ACB

→ Sn = u + [ 1/2 a(n)² - 1/2 a(n - 1)² ]

→ Sn = u + 1/2 a(2n - 1)

\boxed{Sn \: = \: u \: + \: 1/2 a(2n-1)}
