From Boyle's Law we know that

PV = constant

or P ~ 1/V

From, Charles Law we know that

V ~ T

From Gay Lussac's Law we know that

V ~ n

From Avogadro's Law we know that

P ~ n

So, combining all of these four laws

We get,

PV/nT = constant

And thus, experimentally for arbitrary systems this constant was calculated by various methods and finally it was named as 'R'

and R = 0.082 L atm K-1 mol-1

So,
