Kinetic energy is defined as the energy possessed by an object by the virtue of its motion.

K.E.=1/2mv^2, where 'm' is the mass of the object and 'v' is the velocity with which it is moving.

DERIVATION-

W=F×s

=ma×v^2-u^2/2a

=1/2m(v^2-u^2)

IF THE OBJECT IS STARTING FROM REST I.E. AT U=0 m/s,

W=1/2m(v^2-0)

=1/2mv^2

Therefore, KINETIC ENERGY=1/2mv^2
