To prove :

Rs=R1+R2

Explanation:In series current is same but voltagediffers.

so, V net = V1+V2              -i)

We know, V=IR

Use eq. i)

V=V1+V2

IR=IR1+IR2                    IR=I(R1+R2)

R=R1+R2

Hence proved
