Consider the velocity-time graph of an object that moves under uniform acceleration.

Let the Initial velocity of an object

OA=u ∴ CD=u

Final velocity of an object

OE=v ∴ BC=v

The velocity changes at a uniform rate in time t.

BD=BC-CD

BD=v-u

Time taken OC=AD=t

Acceleration of an object is given by a= change in velocity/time

a=BD/AD = BD/OC

a= v-u/t

∴ at= v-u

u+at=v

∴ v=u+at
