We know V=IR

In a series connection

current flow is same and voltage is divided

implies equivalent voltage will be

Veq = V1+V2

As V=IR

implies

IReq=IR1+IR2

As I is equal

implies

Resistance=R1+R2

So, we can conclude that resistance adds up in series connection or equivalent resistance is sum of individual Resistances in series....
