suppose a body moving with a initial velocity u, takes a time t to reach at final destination with velocity v having uniform acceleration a,

therefore distance travelled by the body can be known by the formula of average velocity

v(bar)= v+u/2

and s=v(bar)*t

s=(v+u)/2*t

but from first equation of motion we know

v=u+at

therefore

s=(u+at+u)/2*t

s=(2u+at)/2*t

s=ut+½at²

hence derived
