the acceleration is derived from the some other quantities like change in velocity / time take . ... if we see carefully that formula of acceleration you find that it is basically derived from fundamental quantities therefore acceleration is called a derived quantities.

a= vu/t

therefore unit of acceleration =m/s^2 coz velocity is in "m/s" and time is in "s" roads on mountains inclined inwards at turns because the component of normal force from inclined plane balances the centrifugal force.
