Atomic mass is 40 u
No.of neutrons =22
Atomic number = Atomic mass – no.of neutrons
Atomic number=40-22=18
Element is Argon(Ar).

Argon is an inert gas.It's valency is 0

Hi friend ,

Atomic mass = No. of protons + No. of neutrons

40u = No. of protons + 22

40-22 = No. of protons

18 = No. of protons

No. of protons = Atomic no.

Atomic no. = 18

Electronic configuration = 2,8,8

The valency of the element is 0. Because it has valence electrons as 8(octet).
