=1/2 (OA+BC) × OC

Here,OA= u

        OC= t

        CB= v

S= 1/2(u+v)t --------> (1)

But a = v-u/t

t= v-u/a --------> (2)

Substituting (2) in (1) we get,

S= 1/2 (u+v) (v-u/a)

= 1/2 (v+u) (v-u/a)

u/1 = 1(v²-u²)/2-a

∴v²-u²= 2as
